About CCUSA
CCUSA History
In 1985, CCUSA was only a dream. Today, we are an internationally recognized organization with 15 programs that recruit from over 50 countries. We have placed over 150,000 young adults in hundreds of summer camps and seasonal employers across the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, UK, Europe, Brazil, and Russia.
Below is a brief description of CCUSA and our programs.
In 1985 the Camp Counselors USA program was founded to give internationals the chance to work in the USA and share their culture and experiences with American children during their Summer Holidays. As a staff provider for more than 1000 US camps, Camp Counselors USA has developed a reputation for the high quality of service we provide to both our participants and our camps. Camp Counselors USA is known throughout the US Camping Industry as the program that provides only the best quality counselor and support staff. This great reputation comes from our past participants, with their great attitude, work ethic and abilities.
In 1995, Work Experience USA was developed to widen the opportunities offered to internationals. Work Experience USA provides participants with valuable learning and personal growth experiences in jobs throughout the USA. Participants come to work in the USA during their Summer Holidays from University. Many of our participants have worked in ski areas, national parks, amusement parks, resorts, hotels, ranches and in any number of other various seasonal employers. With many options to choose from, this Student only program is a great way to expand work experience, resumes and friends. Once again CCUSA has led and continues to lead the way by supplying top quality staff for many of our US employers.
In 1996 with the opening of Camp Counselors Russia, CCUSA expanded its work programs to outside the United States. With Russia’s long tradition of youth camps, Camp Counselors Russia offers the opportunity for counselors and Russian children to share their cultures and traditions in a unique setting. With CCUSA’s great reputation in supplying staff for US camps, it was an easy transition to be able to start recruiting staff for Summer Camps in Russia. This wonderful and challenging program is definitely a true Cultural Experience.
In 1997, Work Adventures Down Under was launched. 18 – 30 year olds travel to Australia or New Zealand or a combination of both to work and travel their way around the country. Work Adventures Down Under helps participants with the right advice and assistance to make their travel and work in these countries as carefree and memorable as possible.
In 1998, CCUSA expanded its offerings to include Practical Training USA. The J-1 trainee visa allows qualified individuals in the fields of Commerce, Finance, Business and Management to come to the USA and improve their skills through a 12 - 18 month training program. Successful completion of this program is a valuable enhancement to anyone’s CV.
In 2003 Camp California debuted. After years of requests for an America style camp in mainland Europe, CCUSA opened the 1st ever US style summer camp on the coast of the Adriatic Sea in Croatia. With over 160 campers per 2 week session and a staff of 50 counselors from around the world, this American style camp has it all; international friendships, songs, games, ropes courses, climbing walls and, of course, a wonderful waterfront program. CCUSA recruits both campers and staff for Camp California.
In 2004 CCUSA also started Work Exchange United Kingdom to take advantage of the expansion of the European Union. Using its international expertise in work programs, CCUSA created a program that allows people from qualified countries the opportunity to find work before they arrive in the UK, and assist them upon arrival with housing, bank accounts, tax, and various other requirements.
In 2006
Camp Counselors Canada commenced. CCUSA teamed up with NYQUEST to supply them with Camp Counselors and Support Staff to work at Summer Camps in Canada.
CCUSA also commenced its Work and Play Canada program. Teaming up with Overseas Working Holidays (OWH) CCUSA is helping to supply staff for their Work and Play summer and winter programs. On this option you will be able to work at a Ski Resort during the winter OR a variety of jobs during the summer.
CCUSA was also pleased to start the Work in English Pubs and Work and Play Ireland. These programs offer wonderful
opportunities for those that are heading directly to the UK / Ireland or want to combine with one of our USA or Russian programs.
In 2007, CCUSA started
Volunteer Experience South Africa. CCUSA in conjunction with You2Africa will be able to offer UK and American participants the opportunity to partake in volunteer programs in South Africa.
Volunteer Experience Mexico also started in 2007. CCUSA will work with Ventur Pipiol to bring overseas visitors to Mexico for a unique volunteer experience.
Working Holiday USA started
in 2008 where you can extend your international working
adventure for up to 12 months.
As you can see our entire range of programs offer young both adults and children a fantastic opportunity to work or attend summer camps in various countries. All participants on our work programs should come prepared to work hard and to share their culture with others. Whilst children on our Summer Camp programs should come prepared to make new friends, try new things and even improve their English if need be. All CCUSA’s participants will develop strong personal friendships with people from around the world and will grow, learn and experience different lifestyles not as a tourist, but as a valuable member of the community.
This year CCUSA programs have placed or will place over 35,000 individuals just like you in summer camps, ski areas, hotels, restaurants and other work environments around the world.
We are extremely proud of all of our programs. They provide a fun, safe and rewarding way to experience the world. We look forward to welcoming you to the “Best Adventure of Your Life”, and helping you become - more than just a tourist!
